Hi I'm Shaun Vineyard and I'm a personal trainer and golf fitness instructor at Sculpt Fitness. My background is in nursing and exercise science. I'm a Titilest Performance Institute certified golf fitness instructor, specializing in junior golf and swing fitness power and speed.
I started as a nursing major at Walsh University and excelled at it but it was lacking something. I liked it but I wasn't passionate about it. Not knowing what I wanted to do I continued working in the golf industry. I worked every possible position at Brookledge golf club and slowly I realized I wanted to be in the golf industry permanently so I changed majors to Exercise Science.
I was a three sport athlete in highschool, playing baseball, golf and basketball. I played every sport as a kid and loved them all....but I loved golf the most. I loved the shot making, the concentration, the swing. Golf taught me a lot about life, to appreciate the highs and learn from the lows. Also it taught me you can always be better. I'm a scratch golfer and have one of the fastest and explosive swings around.
I was always a super skinny kid in high school and I was determined to be as strong and fit as possible in college. I love every type of exercise; powerlifting, bodybuilding, cross training, yoga,ect. I realized how big the golf fitness market was in Ohio so I started working on my certifications. Once I combined my love for the game of golf and my passion for fitness, there's no looking back and I couldn't be happier. I love how much golfers care about their game and love seeing people improve and enjoying this lifelong sport they care so much about.
Most people don't know golf fitness is an actual thing. 55 out of the last 83 winners on the PGA tour have a TPI fitness team. At TPI we think the most efficient swing is not the same for every golfer, because efficiency is unique to their body. To achieve an efficient swing, a golfer must first be screened. This screen involves a 16 step assessment of swing mechanics and biomechanics, physical fitness, movement quality, current health and a client history. Most head pros have no idea of your physical limitations and try to get you in positions that might be physically impossible for the individual. Having someone who knows how the body moves working on your swing makes more sense then someone who knows what a good swing looks like.
All in all I love my job. I love the great trainers we have here at Sculpt Fitness and the one of a kind atmosphere!
